Personalise your surveys to your customer with merge fields

We’ve enhanced the functionality of our merge fields when you design an email survey allowing you to include contact data within your email to personalise the survey to the person or to their interaction with your organisation.

For example, you could use this to mention the new product that a contact has just bought from you, or the name of their sales rep, or the helpline issue if the survey follows-up from a customer query.

To include the merge fields anywhere in the email, just add the field name within square brackets; the field name is all one word and in lowercase. For example: [firstname] or [product].

You can add these anywhere within the main body of the email or even in the subject line (so you email survey could read ‘Hi Simon, we would love your feedback’ by entering ‘Hi [firstname], we would love your feedback’ in the Subject field.

The fields enhance the information you hold about a contact and can be entered when you import your contact data, or included via an integration or API connection, or passed from your website CMS, or entered manually.

The full list of merge fields now supported are: [firstname], [lastname], [segment], [product], [price], [owner] and [tags].
